Monument Quay Stones

Representing the thirty-two counties of Ireland, there are thirty-two quay-stones, taken from the old quay in Cobh (near cork City), surround the monument area. The stones were the last contact that many of the emigrants had with Ireland as they left for America. In front of each stone is placed a specially inscribed granite stone. The inscriptions are given below. The stones are numbered in a counter-clockwise direction, starting at the brick entrance walk.
